Madras University beat Kurkshetra University (Haryana) 64-49 in the final to emerge champions in the All-India Inter-University Basketball Tournament here at the KIIT University campus today. Delhi University pipped Mumbai University 51-50 to secure the third position. S Sujata of Madra University was declared the player of the tournament. Host KIIT University founder Achyuta Samant handed over the trophy in the presence of Vice-chancellor Prof PP Mathur, Registrar Sasmita Samanta and Deputy-registrar Sucheta Priyabadini.
Altogether 14 universities from four zones participated in the six-day ournament. Other 10 teams in the fray included Pandit Ravishankar University (Raipur), SRM University (Chennai), DAV University (Indore), LNUPE (Gwalior), Utkal University (Bhubaneswar), Benarus Hindu University (Varanasi), Guru Nanank Dev University (Amritsar), Anna University (Chennai), MLS University (Udaipur), University of Calcutta, Punjabi University (Patiala).
